Department of Environmental Conservation

DEC specific impacts include:

  • Desktop Standardization: The DEC’s Department Technology Officer, Ryan Kendall, and members of the Departmental IT team are participating in the Desktop Standardization project.

  • Enhancing Cybersecurity: This project includes the implementation of Endpoint Management improvements to support remote access and ensure that devices are constantly updated with the latest virus protection and security patches. DEC staff impacted by these improvements will be contacted to attend awareness training which will cover security patching functionality and cadence.

  • HR Transformation: From January 2021, DEC Human Resources staff are being reassigned to the Department of Administration’s Division of Personnel and Labor Relations as part of the HR Transformation.

  • Pathway: DEC is currently participating in the pilot for Pathway. The following Divisions* are included in the pilot groups:

    • Administrative Services

    • Water

    • Environmental Health

    • Air Quality

    • Spill Prevention and Response

  • Procurement Consolidation: From January 2021, DEC Procurement staff will report into a new organization within the Department of Administration called the Office of Procurement and Property Management as part of the Procurement Consolidation project.

  • OIT Organization Changes: The creation of a unified Office of Information Technology within the Department of Administration will continue as part of the Procurement Consolidation project. DEC IT staff will be moving to the OIT during 2021.
